If you’re curious, I wrote a blog post recapping the story of Blocks! Read it here.

Hi folks,

After carefully considering the options, I’ve made the difficult decision to shut down Blocks after graduating this year.

I don’t feel comfortable handing off something that I poured so much time and effort into, and that is forever tied to me. I also don’t feel able to screen candidates and pick people out based on limited information.

The school does, however, have a really good Google Calendar schedule that you can add to your own Google Calendar app next year. Blocks was in fact built on top of this public calendar feed, and if you’d like to build a replacement for Blocks I’ve put together a doc with some tips.

When I first built Blocks two years ago, I remember being over the moon when 8 people downloaded it. Then came 50, and 100, and over 2,000 today — something I never would’ve expected.

Thank you for all of your support and encouragement over the past two years. I really cannot thank you enough; this app and the experiences that came with it have been the highlight of my time at LHS, and I’m so thankful for the opportunity.

If you ever want to reach out about anything at all, please do! I’d love to hear from you and try to help with anything, tech-related or not.

I wish you the best,

Ben Borgers
